Posted on: 23 May 2019

One of thousands of Pride events that take place every year in hundreds of cities around the world, Bristol Pride Festival has had a huge celebration-filled couple of weeks starting 1st July and rounding off with the final Pride Day Saturday 13h July. A celebration of the LGBT+ community and a promotion of tolerance and love, Bristol Pride welcomes a huge selection of musicians, dancers, stage performers, drag acts and much more to Bristol Downs on Saturday 13th July!

This year, the event has moved to The Downs for its 10th anniversary. The line up includes: Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Boney M, Sonique, Saara Aalto, Peppermint (Ru Paul's Drag Race) and many many more!

The Pride Parade begins in Castle Park at 11am before heading off to the Bristol Amphiteatre and Millennium Sq. The planned route may be subject to minor last minute changes due to the Metro Bus Works in the city. Which may also mean there are roadworks in place.

The route is 2 miles long and will take about 1 hour to complete. Organisers have tried to reduce the number of hills to take (not easy in Bristol) but those with restricted mobility or wheelchair users may struggle with the first loop around Cabot Circus, due to hills, but can join the march as they pass Castle Park again. If you have access questions please contact them on info@bristolpride.co.uk.

Pride is a positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT+ rights movements throughout the world.

Bristol Pride is also a chance to celebrate our community. Organised by members of the LGBT+ community Pride is the chance for all LGBT+ people, their friends, families and allies to stand up and declare they are proud of who they are and their loved ones.

Bristol Pride Parade is a free event, but the £18 Day+Night Wristbands to gain entry to The Downs celebrations also include after party access. Check out the Facebook event here and buy tickets here. To find out about all Bristol Pride events, click here.

Bristol Pride is a registered charity (1166817) organised by volunteers from the community. We work all year round to challenge homophobia and promote equality and diversity, for all, through various events, school visits, consultation services and lobbying – check out their Project Work page to find out more about what they do.
