The production is kicking off its 32 week tour at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth in September before visiting 22 venues throughout the UK (including an 8 week Christmas season at Sadler’s Wells - the theatre where it first premiered) then embarking on an international tour. Bristol Hippodrome will host the ballet from the 12th to the 16th March 2019.

Dance-theatre company New Adventures are happy to announce the full cast for their upcoming production, which stars Royal Ballet rising star Matthew Ball, New Adventures’ Will Bozier, and former English National Ballet’s Max Westwell as ‘The Swan’. Bozier is currently performing as Harry the heroic Pilot in Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, and Westwell has recently been seen in “An American in Paris” on the West End.

The Private Secretary will be played by long time company Principal Glenn Graham (who has recently played ‘Grischa’ in ‘The Red Shoes’), Max Westwell and Ashley-Jordon Packer. ‘The Queen’ will be performed by two long-time New Adventures favourites, Nicole Kabera and Katrina Lyndon, who will both be making their debuts in this role.

‘The Girlfriend’ will also be performed by Katrina Lyndon. She is joined by Freya Field and Carrie Willis who are both returning to the Swan Lake Company.

The Prince shall be portrayed by two of New Adventures’ Principal dancers - Liam Mower and Dominic North - who will both be returning to the role, along with newcomer James Lovell who shall be making his professional debut.

Returning to New Adventures are Tom Broderick, PJ Hurst and Alex Sturman.

Making their debuts with the company are: Nicole Alphonce, Leigh Alderson, Jonathan Luke Baker, Alistair Beattie, Benjamin Bazeley, Megan Cameron, João Castro, Zanna Cornelis, Kayla Collymore, Keenan Fletcher, Michaela Guibarra, Bryony Harrison, Nicholas Keegan, Shoko Ito, Courtney Liu, Jack Mitchell, Barnaby Quarendon, Jack William Parry, Sam Salter, Stan West, Milwhynne Williams, Andrew Ashton, Isaac Bowry and Harry Ondrak-Wright.

Bourne’s acclaimed production has won over 30 international awards including an Olivier Award and three Tonys on Broadway. Although it retains the traditional score and, to some degree, the plot of the original, Bourne revolutionised the ballet when he made the decision to replace the traditionally female lead with a male dancer. And so, turning the story somewhat on its head, the story follows the Prince, his difficult relationship with his Mother the Queen, and his repressed love for the (also male) swan.

New Adventures are dedicated to finding new diverse young talent across the UK and are delighted by the fact that several members of the Swan Lake cast have been discovered through their “Swan School” - a two week intensive programme which aims to nurture and guide emerging dancers.

Matthew Bourne saidWith the largest cast in our repertory, Swan Lake always gives us the opportunity to bring a wealth of new talent into the Company and I’m excited to welcome so many new dancers into the New Adventures family. I’m particularly thrilled to welcome cast members whose journey to this production came via our production of “Lord of the Flies” or through our “Swan School” which was designed to develop young talent for this company”.

Swan Lake is at Bristol Hippodrome 12-16 March 2019. The evening shows will be at 7.30pm every day, with 2.30pm matinees on Thursday 14th and Saturday 16th. Tickets are from £19.40 plus booking fee.

Bristol Hippodrome is at St Augustines Parade, Bristol, BS1 4UZ
