Light and Shade at Christmas Steps Gallery until Sunday 17th June 2018Posted on: 13 Jun 2018
Light & Shade is a new exhibition displaying the work of 12 artists and which will have its artistic base at Christmas Steps Gallery until Sunday 17th June 2018.
Exploring the transformative possibilities of light and how it evokes feeling and form, its link to the natural world is examined by the artists through the medium in a variety of direct, figurative and abstract ways.
Works on display are by artists (to name all 12 of them): Louise Beer, Harriet Carter, Mi-Young Choi, Emma Coop, Helen Jones, Marguerite Knight, Hattie Moore, Émilie-Christine P. Newman, Ioanna Sakellarki, Paul Harvey Scull, Renata Sinclair, and Ruth Wallace.
Curated by Bristol-based Sightlines Projects, Light & Shade plunges into its central theme with sublime, spectacular and occasionally unsettling results as well often intriguing, surprising interpretations of texture and form.
