School’s out for the summer and that can only mean one thing - it’s time to crack open the Pimms, gather some mates, and hit the dance floor. We’re going to give you a rundown of all the best events happening in Bristol over the next few months so that you can get your schedule (and appropriately jazzy clothes) sorted sooner rather than later. 

 

The Fleece 

June 15th - Club Tropicana 80s Club Night

Did somebody say Wham!? Head to The Fleece on June 15th for a night that’ll satisfy all of your 80's cravings. Music will cover everything from Duran Duran to Bon Jovi, Eurthymics to A-ha, Spandau Ballet to Van Halen.

The Lanes

June 30th - Fat Lip - Summer Luau!

The Lanes are bringing the holiday fever with their Summer Luau. Limbo, beer pong, hula hoops, inflatables and ‘buckets and spades full of summer jams’ have all been promised, making for one insanely tropical night. 

 

Beachwear is ‘most definitely encouraged’ and they’ll have their finest DJs playing an eclectic mix of pop and feel good tunes all night long, featuring the likes of Blink 182, Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Bon Jovi, R Kelly and Taylor Swift. 

 

As if all this wasn’t enough to tempt you, they’ll be providing free sweets and the best Saturday drinks deals in Bristol, as well as opening up their bowling lanes, courtyard and upstairs chill out area.

O2 Academy

August 16th - Ramshackle A Levels Results Party 

Ramshackle O2 Bristol Club

For those of you that have just finished your A Levels and have some well deserved celebrating to do, O2 are hosting a Results Party on August the 16th with all the best tunes from 2000-2009. 

 

You’ll be able to reminisce with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Shaggy as you party the night away with your pals and celebrate exam freedom.

Motion 

June 16th - Summer Solstice Day Party

Make the most of the days getting lighter and the nights getting later on the 16th June at Motion’s Summer Solstice Day Party! They promise guaranteed sunshine, an all day BBQ, plenty of booze, and music from their favourite house and disco DJs. What’s not to love?

July 7th - St Pauls Carnival Official After Party

After a day of celebrating Afro-Caribbean culture and dancing through the streets, keep your toes tappin’ at the official After Party for St Pauls Carnival. 

 

The main room will be hosted by Cubana, featuring Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Mad Progessor, Reggae Roast ft. Brother Culture and more. Tunnel is being hosted by Rumble in the Jungle who will bring with them Aries B2B Kelvin 373, Born on Road, Blast DJs, Pull Up Collective ft Kamoh and Buckfast Boys Club. Room three will have tunes from Bruk Off all night. 

 

Carnival dress optional, positive vibes compulsory.

July 21st - Sequences Festival 2018

Motion Bristol Sequences Festival

Motion will host Sequences on July 21st, with acts including Mungo’s Hi Fi, Holy Goof, Noisia and Reggae Snow. Mungo’s is a Jamaican inspired sound system which follows a tradition of reggae and dub music, working in collaboration with artists and producers to give you sounds that have previously entertained crowds at the likes of Glasonbury, Womad and Outlook.

 

Their all-day-all-night party kicks off at 12pm and will fill Motion and Avon Street. Check out their Facebook page here for more information on acts and to get tickets.

 

Lakota

June 30th - Channel One’s Summer BBQ Day Party

The legendary hand built, custom made Channel One sound system returns to Lakota on the 30th June to deliver roots rock reggae, dubplate classics and big basslines from 2 till 9.30pm. Last time they came to Lakota was in 2016… this event is expected to be just as epic.

July 20th - Dimensions Festival x Dropout Disco ft. Hunee

In the build up to Croatian underground electronic music festival Dimensions, Lakota bring you a Bristol taster featuring a set from legendary DJ Hunee. Hunee is a master of dance and electronica set to tour throughout Croatia, Spain, The Netherlands, UK, and Germany this summer, bringing positive vibes to international audiences. He’ll incorporate house, techno and disco into his set, and will be joined by Bristolian DJ Sam Hall who’ll be blending old classic records from the late 80’s and 90’s with modern day house and techno releases.

Blue Mountain 

June 9th - Strictly JumpUp SummerJam All Day & Night 

Blue Mountain SummerJam Bristol

18 hours of raving from 12pm till 6am the following morning for those that can hack it. Over 60 artists will perform, with the lineup featuring Shadow Demon, Mc BassMan & Mc Trigga, HizzleGuy and All Female Take Over to name a few. 

 

Blue Mountain has two rooms, and an outside terrace for if you need to have a cool down. The club warn that its ‘probably not for the faint hearted and it’s inadvisable to wear white trainers… but pretty much anything else goes’.

Thekla 

July 27th - Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club 

Craig Charles Bristol Funk Soul

Get your funk on at Thekla on the 27th July with Craig Charles providing summer vibes till 4am. The radio host and DJ will be joined by some yet to be announced special guests and will come ready to rock the boat, mixing classic tracks from artists like Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder with unusual funk covers and modern remixes.

Tokyo World 

Tokyo World Bristol Festival

To finish the summer season on a high, the legendary Tokyo World festival hits Eastville Park on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September. Their line up this year includes the likes of Sister Sledge and Action Bronson, alongside Lethal Bizzle, Mike Skinner, Submotion Orchestra and many, many more. 

 

First release are already (unsurprisingly!) sold out, but you can get second release here - full weekend tickets are £60.50 inc booking fee. Get your glitter ready - it’s going to be a big one.
