The Medical Healthcare Centres in Bristol and Bath
Posted on: 16 May 2018The Medical runs 12 healthcare centres across the Bristol and Bath region. Their opening hours means they’re both convenient and accessible as many are open until 9pm.
The Medical’s mission is “to enable healthier living so that people can lead happier lives” which the do “by providing easy access to exceptional healthcare”.
With a range of services from acupuncture to yoga The Medical is a one stop shop for healthcare and fitness.
GP Services
Not only can you arrange a consultation over the phone, GP appointments are usually available the same day at Temple Quay or Aztec West if booked by 1pm. The Medical GP’s are regulated by the same standards as NHS GPs but appointments last much longer meaning you have more time with the doctor. Blood tests, x-rays, scans and further investigations can all be arranged and should you need to be referred this can be arranged too. Additional services such as ear syringing and flu jabs are also available.
Health Checks and Medicals
Health checks to ascertain your general health and well-being as well as specialist medicals required for employment or visa applications are also at your disposal at Temple Quay or Aztec West. Health checks include an in depth discussion about your lifestyle as well as up to 28 checks so the doctor can create a personalised Health Action Plan.
Travel Health Services
Whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure accessing The Medical’s Travel Health service at Aztec West is quick and easy. Just book a Travel Consultation with a nurse from The Medical who will discuss your needs and administer any vaccinations you may need. The Medical’s travel shop also stocks essentials from insect repellent to sunscreen.
Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Osteopathy
Practitioners are available 6 days a week. In the South West The Medical is the only chiropractor to be approved by the Care Quality Commission. After your assessment the practitioner will explain the diagnosis and treatment options available. They will design a tailored treatment plan specifically for your needs in order to aid recovery.
Acupuncture
Used to treat pain by inserting needles The Medical combines one of the oldest forms of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, with Five Element Acupuncture which takes into account emotional factors for acupuncture treatment at The Medical.
Sports Injury Therapy
The Medical are experience with sports injuries having worked with a number of leading sports clubs including Bristol Rugby and Bristol City Football Club. Facilities include up to the minute rehab equipment and hydrotherapy. Practitioners are specialist in their field.
Massage
Whether you’re looking to or have just run a marathon or have had a long day at work and need to relieve stress there is a range of massages available at The Medical. There are deep tissue massages to increase flexibility, sports massages to prevent injury and improve performance, as well as relaxation massages to promote wellbeing and pregnancy massages to relieve tension and prevent possible problems later in pregnancy or after birth. Massage can also complement other treatments such as physiotherapy, chiropractic and osteopathy.
Bike Fitting and Gait Analysis
Static and dynamic bike fitting is available at The Medical in Downend. This helps cyclists improve their position for both improved performance and comfort as well as reducing the risk of injury. Also in Downend runners can benefit from a details running gait analysis which helps to prevent injury and improve running performance.
Classes
If you’re looking to improve strength and balance why not consider pilates or yoga at the medical? As well as group classes The Medical offers one-to-one sessions. Group or one-to-one rehabilitation classes are also available and are delivered by registered physiotherapists.
