Rum lovers, rejoice! A veritable cornucopia of exotic rum-based pleasures will be available for your enjoyment as The UK Rum Festival arrives in Bristol on Saturday the 7th July 2018

Free drinks samples will be the main order of the day, accompanied by street food from local vendors, delicious cocktails, seminars, live music and private tasting sessions. You’ll be able to chat to experts and ambassadors as they teach you how the drinks are made, and come away a (slightly tipsy) rum expert.

This will be the festival’s sixth year of bringing a taste of the Caribbean to Bristol. Jon and Debbie Rees, the festival’s founders, felt that there was a lack of knowledge and appreciation beyond ‘I’ll have a rum and coke’ and so decided to start this wonderful showcase of the sugar cane spirit. Jon says “We want to show the world what it's overlooking and show the diversity of cane spirits. From spiced and sweetened offerings to truly magnificent blended and matured liquids”.

After initially starting the festival in Cardiff, the team expanded to Bristol and Exeter as it became more popular and attracted growing numbers of visitors.

The event will take place from 12 till 6pm at The Passenger Shed. Tickets include a taste of all rums exhibited, and are £30 for general admission or £50 for a VIP ticket which includes exclusive access to their secret Tiki bar. Whilst we have very limited information about this (what kind of secret bar would it be if we knew details??) we have been promised that it will involve ‘the most exciting tiki bar tenders joining us to whisk you off to a little polynesian paradise’.
