Frank Turner To Be Supported by Arkells at O2 Academy

Posted on: 23 Apr 2018

Celebrated UK folk-rock artist Frank Turner will perform at Bristol's O2 Academy to coincide with the release of his new album, Be More Kind, on Friday 27th April 2018. Acclaimed Canadian rock band Arkells have now been announced as Turner’s support, ensuring that this will be one hell of a night!

In the years since he split with post-hardcore band Million Dead in 2005, Turner has released seven full-length studio albums to widespread critical acclaim, with a combination of solo projects and collaborative efforts with The Sleeping Souls.

Now a hugely successful solo singer-songwriter, Frank Turner has also performed across the world with The Sleeping Souls, at venues and festivals across the UK, US and more. His love for folk and rock music is deep-rooted, and shines through in his own releases and on-stage performances.  His show in Bristol in April is one of 18 UK & Ireland shows this year, with shows also scheduled in Manchester, Dublin, Exeter and more.

Turner will be supported by Arkells, making what was already going to be a fantastic night even more enjoyable. With 4 albums, 2 EPs and a number of singles already under their belts, the band formed in 2006 and cite their influences as eclectic, embracing everything from Top 40 to Motown.

They often draw inspiration from political events, which can be seen in the lyrics of songs such as “Whistleblower” and “Knocking at the Door”, written about The Women’s March on Washington.

Heavier songs such as Turner’s ‘1933’ and Arkells’ gritty, sharp style will contrast with the the soft titular track of ‘Be More Kind’. Both performances will bring current and emotive topics to the stage in their own unique style.

This event is currently sold out, but keep an eye on social media in case you get lucky and see somebody selling their ticket!
