UWE Illustration Exhibition at The Crofters Rights 6th May

Posted on: 19 Apr 2018

On Sunday 6th May, UWE Illustration are hosting an exhibition at The Crofters Rights from 2-5pm.

The exhibition, titled ‘Erratic Batting x Fair Play’ is a collaborative effort formed by an art collective from UWE Illustration. The inspiration for the exhibition comes from childhood art and the mediums which surround the way children perceive art, forming a narrative of childhood that deals with the notion of semi-autobiographic reflection, when one attempts to re-create childhood art, through an adult lens.

The curator, Heather Savage said “Inspiration originally came from looking back at drawings I made as a child, originally to find consistent themes in my work. I took such an interest in the loose naivety of the drawings/bizarre narratives. Which got me curious about how it’d be interesting to do an exhibition on one’s childhood, through the eyes of themselves, but after having grown up.”

In keeping with the theme, the Sunday afternoon will also consist of childish games, such as splat-the-rat, tombola and even live portraits and drawing games. Crofters will encompass all that is signature of a village fete, with lots of interactive fun for all.

All work on the walls will be for sale throughout the exhibition and the event is completely free to attend, but donations are more than welcome, as they help UWE Illustration to fundraise towards their degree show. Contributors are various members of UWE Illustration Third Year, the purpose for the event is to fundraise for their degree show. Previously they’ve hosted other local events such as an exhibition at the Tobacco Factory, in Southville, along with many bake sales and art stalls, at Shake Bristol and elsewhere.

All proceeds will go towards UWE Illustration Third Year’s Degree Show, happening on 15th-19th July, at Hoxton Arches, London.

All ages welcome and encouraged, the aim is to make it fun for all the family!
