Founding Owner, Andy Dodd, of both Faraway and Flipside Cocktail Clubs, has always been an avid supporter of local businesses throughout his more than 20 years experience as a manager in the hospitality industry. In 2016, Andy and Brendan Murphy of 365Bristol set up the Bristol Association of Restaurants, Bars and Independent Establishments (aka BARBIE) to make it easier for local hospitality businesses to work together. As such Andy has been working closely with several BARBIE members to bring his new Faraway Cocktail Club to life: the interior is designed by Stoke Bishop’s David Hutton Interiors, Fraser Besant Lighting provided the atmospheric lighting and former cocktail bartender Louis Eastman created the gorgeous bar top which he and his team at the Out of the Woodwork design studio carefully hand-crafted out of sustainably-managed Sapele wood.

The expertly-created drinks also allude to the tropical theme. Partygoers can choose from a large selection of delicious cocktails, rums, tequilas and mezcals and the house speciality is punchbowls of sharing punches. Andy’s team of cocktail bartenders have been handpicked for the job as every one of them has bartended in some of the most well-known bars in Bristol and London, including Ashleigh Cillers, previously of The Milk Thistle and Hyde & Co, Mike Canham, the rum and gin specialist who some might recognise from The Rummer and Danny Wilson who returns to Bristol after 4 years in London bartending at London Cocktail Club, Hawksmoor and Be At One, having previously been at Papaji’s, Andy Dodd’s precursor to Bristol’s Flipside Cocktail Club. Another previously familiar face from Flipside Cocktail Club is Dan Penny who will be helping Danny Wilson run the new site and has already been working with him on the creation of the drinks menu.

A relaxed, fun night out with friends and work colleagues sharing delicious drinks is the ethos behind the Faraway Cocktail Club is the perfect venue in central Bristol.
