Bristol Street Artists announced for NASS Festival 2018

NASS Festival has once again joined forces with Upfest, Europe’s largest street art festival which takes place in Bristol, to bring some of the best artistic talents to the biggest live-action sports and music festival in the UK.

This collaboration will see Upfest present a programme of live and curated street art with some of the best names in the game, including photorealism and overlay mural artist Insane51, plus local Bristol talent 45RPM and Sepr who will be bringing their unique styles to the NASS Skate & BMX Park. They will be joined by renowned muralist Jody, who recently collaborated with NASS for a mural of headlinerDamian Marley on North Street. The Gums & Tongue crew consisting of Captain Kris, The Real Dill, Lazy Obit, Oust, TonyBoy and Dahkoh with regular collaborator Tony Riff will be live painting at the event as well as running a version of their notorious ‘Sketch Club’ in the onsite pub, The Truck andBearing.

Multi-talented Bristol artist Voyder will return to NASS for a third year to add his unique photorealism and vibrant typographic skills across the sports venues. UK Illustration Championships winner Si Mitchellis bringing his punk style into the Truck and Bearing, Paul Monsters’ geometry-influenced tessellating artwork will appear throughout the site and the Unwellcome Relatives collective (Boswell, Lokey, Penn, Sez, and Shabs) will showcase their distinctive menacing style.

The 2018 announcement follows what was a huge year for street art at NASS. 2017 saw some epic pieces throughout the site, including Irony and JXC’s massive murals on the 14ft vert ramp, Fanakapan’s signature chrome balloons alongside Cheba’s mesmerizing galaxy-scape, and Squirl’s official 2017 graphics on the façade of the Truck and Bearing pub. Captain Kris, SPZero and Tony Riff transformed the ramps and rails of the skate and BMX park. The BMX wallride formed from stacked 40ft containers featured Voyder’s freestyle hammerhead shark and typically twisted work from Frank Styles and AEM.Lilly Lou added her beautiful typographic style to the NASS Park passageway with Long Live Southbank’s ‘You Can Make History’ messaging. Andy Council’s giant dragon created from ramps and rails took pride of place at the entrance to the NASS Park and Samer added some reggae-infused art to the new VIP pavilion.

20,000 music and extreme sports fans will gather at the Bath & West Showground, near Bristol to watch the world’s top BMXers and skateboarders show off their skills, witness top international street artists transforming the site and enjoy an eclectic array of live music performances and DJ sets across the fields of hip-hop, drum & bass, grime and many more. With the likes of Dizzee Rascal, RUN DMC, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, De La Soul, Stefflon Don, Wilkinson, Bugzy Malone, Andy C, Vic Mensa and many more joining the street artist lineup and the top international skate and BMX athletes over the four day weekender, NASS 2018 is shaping up to be an unmissable date in the festival calendar.
