Get the Blessing present Bristopolis to open Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival on Thursday 15th March 2018Posted on: 12 Mar 2018
Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival 2018 launches this year with a genuine treat for film and music fans with Bristopolis - a brand new collaboration between renowned jazz quartet Get the Blessing and filmmaker John Minton - on Thursday 15th March 2018.
Using Create Bristol's archive film footage, Minton will take us through the past 100 years of Bristol's incredible history, combining amateur and professional footage to create a collage of the city's greatest and most iconic landmarks alongside snippets of the industrial docks, celebratory Jubilee parties, the pre-war city and a whole lot more. The film will be projected on a large screen in Colston Hall's main auditorium.
Providing the sonic backdrop for all of this will be the fantastic new soundtrack composed especially for the film, performed live by Get the Blessing alongside Portishead's rhythm section.
A stunning and unforgettable tribute to Bristol, a very special symbiosis of film and music, and an amazing opener to the city's world-famous Jazz & Blues Festival, you can find out more about this event, a full list of programme gigs and book tickets here.
Colston Hall is located at Colston Street, Bristol, BS1 5AR. Tel. 0844 887 1500
