Shopping for Mum for Mother’s Day in Bristol
There are loads of fantastic shopping spots in Bristol to visit ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday 11th March.
Whatever your taste and budget, there are shops to suit everyone. From chocolate, to accessories to flowers and more- take a look at our list below!
If you visit The Galleries between 11am and 4pm on 10th March you can pick up a gorgeous potted succulent - a free gift for mum! For a traditional jeweller pop to 1710 Parsons, as one of the UK’s oldest jewellers they pride themselves on quality and workmanship. Whilst you’re at The Galleries don’t forget to pick up a card from Hallmark and maybe some perfume from either The Fragrance Shop or The Perfume Shop.
The Arcade is located in the Broadmead shopping area of the city centre. Set inside a beautiful Victorian building, it acts as a bustling hub for the small shops that inhabit it. From tailors to vape shops, bespoke clothing brands to noodle bars, The Arcade has it all. Pop by for a look inside, we can guarantee that you’ll find a whole load of wonderful things inside!
Not far from The Galleries and based in The Arcade in Broadmead is independent jeweller Silver Scene. They sell a huge range of handcrafted silver jewellery to suit a range of budgets and styles.
Bristol Blue Glass is as synonymous with our city as The Clifton Suspension Bridge and Cary Grant, though many might be unaware that you can watch the glass being made in person free of charge and without so much as even calling ahead!
If you're looking for something special for a presentation or commemorative piece then nothing says 'Bristol' quite like a keepsake made of Blue Glass. Trophies, plaques, tankards, glasses, jewellery and many, many more bespoke items are all available. The skilled staff are always happy to talk through any requests or ideas you might have.
Footwear stalwart Rieker is moving and their new Bristol store opened on Wednesday 7th March! A mainstay of The Horsefair since 2005 Rieker hasn't moved far. Their new location is at 85 Broadmead, BS1 3DT next door to the main entrance of The Galleries - in the former Sea Salt pop up shop. The German shoe brand has been in the same family for five generations and has been making footwear since 1874. From then to today their success and reputation is built on quality, fashion and comfort. Whether it’s shoes or boots, Rieker's antistress features mean their footwear is lightweight and always comfortable. They have a 20% sale on selected lines until Sunday.
Famous for being the longest stretch of independent and small shops in Europe, exploring Gloucester Road is an absolute must. Our advice is to start in Stokes Croft and walk your way up, along the way you’ll find vintage clothing shops, lovely cafes and more. It’s also worth checking out all of the many charity shops that reside there - the perfect place to grab a bargain.
Fig on Gloucester Road is a great shop bringing together local artists. You’ll find a range of jewellery here as well as beautiful kiln fired glass work and pottery. This is a great opportunity to buy something unique and beautiful.
Head down to Southville’s Independent Design Collective an independent gift shop showcasing some of the areas best designers. From minimalist and geometric jewellery by Red Bird Makes to gorgeous ethical cosmetics by Bella Rock you’ll be sure to find something locally produced and perfect for mum.
Smack bang in the centre of town on Broad Quay is Roots. No matter what the budget there is something to suit your style you can even add in a balloon or two. They don’t usually deliver on Sundays but Mother’s Day is an exception!
Located in the heart of Clifton Village, the beautiful Victorian arcade is home to some very unique shops. Antiques, jewellery, vintage and hand-crafted clothing stores aplenty, make this wonderful spot for diverse shopping.
Cabot Circus is a high-street heaven, with many shops suitable for Mother's Day gifts including:
