Blood and Butchery in Bedminster on Tuesday 30th January 2018

Posted on: 29 Jan 2018

Plunge your macabre sensibilities into the dark and grisly past of Bedminster in Bristol with the perfectly titled Blood and Butchery in Bedminster on Tuesday 30th January 2018.

Created by those ingenious folk at theatre company Show of Strength, the tour kicks off at The Rope Walk on Bedminster Parade and will take you on a gruesome journey of how some of the areas pubs played host to a smorgasbord of morbid events such as body snatching, hanging judges, concrete coffins, and oodles of spine-chilling mystery and murder.

So, just to whet your bone-curdling appetites you can expect to hear the terrible tale of John Horwood who, in 1821, was sentenced to hang at the spot where the current Steam Crane now stands but whose travels resulted in him meeting a more ghastly and gut-churning end. Bedminster's role in Britain's biggest bullion robbery, a long-forgotten tale of Victorian murder, and the fate of Princess Caraboo and inexplicable disappearance of Mr Lomas will also be covered.

With the exception of Tuesday 27th February, Blood and Butchery in Bedminster will run every Tuesday until its final performance on May 15th.

Kicking off at 7pm and lasting approximately 2 hours, prices for this blood-curdling combo of local pubs and chilling tales start from £10 and can be purchased here.

The Rope Walk is located at 5 Nelson Parade, Bristol, BS3 4JA.  Tel. 0117 902 0235
