Aaah Bristol! The city known far and wide for its forever fabulous nightlife. With hundreds of venues and bars host to a slew of fantastic events, Bristol dwellers bask in the evening glory of a bar…or a rave, spending the afterhours alongside a boozy beverage.

 

But it would be rude to not include our sober friends in our evening endeavours. Who for whatever reason, chose not to drink.

 

Here are some of the best things to do around the city in the evenings, that don’t involve alcohol!

Visit one of the city’s many Shisha bars

Shisha cafes are full with gorgeous smells and edible treats. They offer many options for non-alcoholic beverages like fresh fruit juices and hot drinks as well as delicious cakes, waffles, ice creams and more.

Visit one of the games cafes

Kongs

Think old-school arcade games galore! Kongs is the go-to establishment to ignite your playful side. They have a range of 80’s and 90’s retro games like Donkey Kong, Street Fighter 2 and Pac-Man to name only a few.

Chance Encounters

Sit back with a hot drink and challenge your company to a spot of Battlestar Galactica or Ninja Camp… they have hundreds of weird and wonderful board games to bring out your inner (or outer) competitiveness.

 

Go bowling at The Lanes 

The Lanes is the city’s favourite independent bowling alley and venue. With five bowling lanes, a diner, karaoke room and pool tables it’s perfect for all types of sober activities.

Go to see a film

Visit they city’s favourite independent cinema The Watershed, where they have a whole host of unique, old and contemporary films to view.

The Cube cinema is also a favourite for left-field film lovers, showcasing some of the best cult and world movies. They also have live cabaret and music from time to time. If you’re feeling fancy why not go to the Everyman cinema, and be waited on whilst you watch.

Mini Golf in Cabot Circus

Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf is located on the top floor of Cabot Circus. There is an extensive 18 hole course featuring a volcano and other jungle ramblings, as well as a café and games area. It is open till 11pm, ideal for some late evening sillyness.

Comedy nights and live magic shows

Check out some stand- up comedy at Rip Roar Comedy Club. Every third Sunday of the month Nova also host a stand-up amateur comedy evening which is free to watch.

Visit the theatre

Check out all of the wonderful theatres for up and coming shows. The Hippodrome, The Redgrave, Bristol Old Vic, Tobacco Factory, The Wardrobe, and Circomedia for some dance and circus acts.
