Posted on: 08 Nov 2017

Introducing: VELCRO, owned by Milly Hastings and holds students work in a collaborative shop where student photographers, illustrators, designers and more are able to get their names out there and sell their work.

On Tuesday 7th of November we were invited to their launch party which was situated on Frenchay campus at UWE. Their Facebook and Instagram pages had brought people in from everywhere to enjoy the creative talents displayed. Milly, the owner of the pop up shop VELCRO, had a week turn over to change a classroom in to a magical woodland shop, she had also had time to prepare her own cosmetic goods and Photographs.

A huge effort from Milly and her Mum Alison and Family Friend Leeann went into making the space so beautiful. An autumnal wonderland. They transformed the room into a visual delight with handmade garments, photographs and original artwork decorating the surrounding walls.

The pop up shop, VELCRO boasted organic homemade cosmetics, handmade garments, photoshoots, original photographs and illustrations from the collaborating students.

There was an autumnal aesthetic in the room, accompanied by glitter and florals. Homemade body scrubs and candles lay on make-shift rustic looking blocks and dust sheets. Leaves scattered the floor and branches could be seen in the corner next to handmade bandeaus and other garments made by Jenna also known as her brand name 'Nebbity'.

Next door was inhabited by HazyDaze. A vintage clothing re-seller, they had many one-off gems for sale.HazyDaze at VELCRO in Bristol

Everything occupying the space was available to purchase and the students sold most of their work.
