Bristol Horror Club will present a special Halloween screening of John Carpenter's classic 1982 horror flick, The Thing, at The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer on Tuesday 31st October 2017.

Bristol Horror Club

This one-off presentation at one of the city's finest and oldest pubs will be a real treat for fans of both All Hallow's Eve and horror fans. The Thing - which star Kurt Russell himself described as "John Carpenter's finest hour"-  tells the foreboding story of a group of American scientists posted at an Antarctic research base only to be terrorised by a shape-shifting alien that can take on the form of its host.

Imbued with a constant sene of impending menace and terror, with bravuro directing by Carpenter, great acting, and groundbreaking, grisly special effects by Rob Bottin that still hold up today and knock seven bells out of the majority of modern CGI, this is one of the undisputed classics of the genre that regularly makes it in to top horror movie lists.

Doors open at 7pm for the film to start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6.96 and can be purchased here.

Famous Royal Navy Volunteer is located at 17-18 King Street, Bristol, BS1 4EF.  Tel. 01179 275100
