Bristol is about to experience a baptism in broadcasting as the eagerly anticipated SoulTrain Radio station launches in December 2017 with the hopes to reach more than 1.6million people.

SoulTrain Radio DAB is the only one of its kind in the city. A product of years of love and labour, the founders are excited to bring to Bristol, the very best tunes from classic Motown sounds to quintessential Jazz, Funk, 70’s and 80’s Rare Groove, RnB and more.

Yep, you can hear sexy soul ballads all day, every day. SoulTrain radio are one of the only independent radio stations in the city to bring you round the clock music, with songs that transcend time, from the finest of soul selectors.

SoulTrain have hosted events for over 25 years with leading UK and US artists big on the Soul Scene, making them godfathers of the movement and of Bristol’s cultural identity. Having recently hosted stages at Glastonbury and Loves Saves The Day festivals, with the likes of Sister Sledge and the Fatback Band, it is said with no doubt, that the ears of Bristol are in for a listening delight.

SoulTrain was Launched in 1992 by original 70s Soul & Funk DJs; Paul Alexander, Jason Lumbar, Johnny Stallard, Steve & Adrian Ashby and Steve Phillips, whom kick-started a musical movement in the city. Crowned as influencers of ‘The Bristol Sound’ by local group Massive Attack, the origins can be traced back to the early 70s. A milestone that maintained one of the longest running club nights in the country and that was hailed as the Top Club Night Out by The Guardian.

SoulTrain Radio started as a 5 hour show every Sunday on Star Radio before moving to BCFM. In 2013, SoulTrain Radio set up a 24/7 internet based radio station and the rest is history. The team behind it are Paul Alexander, Keren Painter, Clement McLarty, Richard Reid and Sam Dimmer.

Founder and Chairman Paul Alexander says

“we have reached a point where we can bring the joy of soul music to the masses. It’s going to be fantastically soulful. SoulTrain Radio DAB is the only independent soul music station in Bristol and we are very proud of that. To be the first radio station being broadcast from the Bottle Yard is a privilege for us.”

The legendary Bottle Yard Studios is a Bristol City Council initiative. The site, which operated for more than 50 years as a former winery and bottling plant, is now an established base for film and television production in the West of England, attracting major UK and overseas productions of all sizes.

It’s safe to say that SoulTrain Radio know what they are doing when it comes to creating shows that are rich with the melodic sounds of the past and present. Non-stop Groove, Jazz, RnB and Funk are sure to make the morning commute utterly blissful- if we ever thought possible.

SoulTrain Radio; we thank you for the sounds that you are about to bless our ears with.
