Kids Halloween Guide to Bristol

Posted on: 18 Oct 2017

As the weather has turned colder and the nights have got darker, it's obvious that Halloween is around the corner! It can be a lot of fun for us adults but for children, this one spooky date can really set their imaginations on a wild journey. Being a mum myself, I can relate to the excitement you might witness from your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as you start to think about events you can take them to in our fabulous Bristol.

Halloween

You might want to do something cheap or you might be willing to push the boat out a bit more; this handy list of things to do will be interesting for you regardless of which way you are going to go. We're lucky as there's a large range of things happening in the city and you don't need to look too far from your doorstep for the entertainment....

Halloween at Galleries Bristol

Like all parents, I like the sound of free entertainment for children and the galleries are offering fun Halloween workshops that won't cost you a penny! Events such as craft workshops and pumpkin designing are happening between the 26th and 28th of October from 11am until 4pm. While you are there make sure and check out Halloween Warehouse on the ground floor for everything you need for Halloween. They also have their main shop, Fun Warehouse, on the second floor and are hosting free Halloween Make Up classes on Thursday 26th, Friday 27th and Saturday 28th October.

Halloween at Wild Place Project

From the 21st to the 29th of October, Wild Place Project is all about Halloween. Children are being invited to meet a witch for a spooky story time session (they can also explore her house and make a mess in her kitchen!) and they can discover the magical creature enclosure. Child entry is just £5 (online booking only).

Bristol Zoo's Halloween Half Term

During half term, there are a variety of imaginative activities happening at Bristol Zoo and it's been inspired by the Mexican celebration of 'Day of the Dead'. Some of the events include Kuki's Haunted Trail, Spooky Story time, Halloween Parade and Creepy Creature Encounters. Only £5 entry for kids!

Pumpkin Fest at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm

Bedminster Halloween Themed Party

For the under 5s at this spooky time of year, there's a fun Halloween themed party happening on the 31st of October at The MIlk Shed, Bedminster.  Times of the event vary depending on the age of the child but tickets are £7.50 per baby/child (includes a hot drink and slick of Halloween cake for adults and a soft drink and snack for little ones.)

Spooky Torchlit Tours at Bristol Aquarium

Your slightly older children (age 15 plus) might want to see the Aquarium at night for a spooky themed evening but pre-booking for this event is essential.

Witch and Wizard School at Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park

Your little one might love to embrace this special and spooky school and Headmistress Broomhilda is waiting for them to arrive! Each pupil will be put in their school houses, given their own hat and then taken to the classes they need to attend. It's all about slime, spells and wands and sounds like an experience that is guaranteed to be fun!

Halloween at Blaise Castle

You and your children are invited to dress up in your Halloween costumes and enter the museum and the gardens for some spooky surprises and a scary-fairy trail. There are lots of hands-on activities to get involved with and this is a great chance to be creative.

Halloween at the SS Great Britain

The SS Great Britain is doing something very different this year for Halloween; children can freak their mums and dads out with prosthetics and special effect makeovers and it will all be inspired by tales of Victorian era illnesses. Children can also explore the ship as well getting involved with deadly disease role play.
