Bristol Fashion Week AW17

Every year there is a Fashion Week based at the shopping Centre in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol. This years event ran from the 27th September - 1st October with no more than three shows a day. The AW17 Fashion Week was dedicated to the unveiling of Concorde at the Aerospace Museum in Bristol, with the catwalk being held there on Wednesday. The eccentric idea was well thought through and reminded me of when Chanel created a glamorous airport themed catwalk back in 2015's Paris fashion week. A timeless idea.

This year, the event space boasted a professional exhibition of themed fashion from the entrance hall until the end of the night. I did have some trouble finding the marquee (which for future reference, is past the restaurants, down the stairs and outside!) but after asking several people, I had made it in time ready for the show to start. During my entrance they handed a raffle ticket offering everyone the chance to win a luxury prize and provided free snacks for the show, which of course I did not decline (fizz and pretzels really started the experience off well for me).

Hosted by Mark Heyes and Cherry Healey, a well partnered host who brought a lot of laughter and related well with people in the audience, started off the experience and introduced the first brands that would be proceeding down the catwalk.

As the show had brands such as Jigsaw, Jack Jones, Topshop and Topman and John Lewis display their well put together pieces down the catwalk to professionally practised themed lighting and music. High street brands such as these boast affordable quality fashion that fits every shape, size and age. The thing that stood out was how the models and clothes reflected quality and style while relating to the everyday person.

The styles were purposely designed to create the ridiculous normality of what we expect from a Catwalk, achieved effortlessly (A plastic poncho normally does the job). An enjoyable experience, snacks, a free goody bag full lots of treats and only from £8.95 (it cost a little more for the choice to sit up close and personal to all the action). For me, the show was well put together from the themed styles to the location itself. They had succeeded in creating a magical evening which was captured perfectly by the talented photographer that they had hired for this special occasion.
