Theatre Of Hate to play in Bristol on the 23rd of October at The Fleece.

With the exciting recent release of their first new studio album in over 30 years, “Kinshi” the pioneers of the post-punk sound are returning to Bristol. Heralding the influential resonances of the post-punk era, with sounds that are as unique as the city’s eclectic music scene.

The band was formed in 1980, by Kirk Brandon- previously a vocalist from the punk band The Pack. Alongside Kirk were notable punk musicians, Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with Steve Gurthie A.K.A John “Boy” Lennard.

Theatre Of Hate fans will undoubtedly remember their early work, their sounds staple to the post-punk revolution. Their debut single “Legion”/”Original Sin” topped the independent chart in 1980. The following years saw the band rise to number one in the charts for 21 weeks, with their debut album “Westworld”, which was produced by Mick Jones from The Clash.

More recently in 2014, the band played a series of sold out shows in London. The year after, they played two more gigs that wowed large crowds as well as their original post-punk fanbase.

TOH are pioneers of the post-punk sound. Their songs, that are diverse with free jazz melodies and haunting sax lines, will be performed at The Fleece, one of Bristol's renowned venues, by Kirk, Stan and John whom will also be joined by current Spear Of Destiny band member Adrian Portas (New Model Army) on guitar and Chris Bell (Hugh Cornwall) on drums to pay homage to the iconic TOH sound.
