RAF mark 70th Anniversary of US Air Force with Colston Hall concert on Monday 16th October 2017

The finest musicians in the Royal Air Force will be coming together for a return to Colston Hall in October to perform a special Stars & Stripes themed music spectacular, marking the 70th anniversary of the US Air Force.

The October concert at Bristol's Colston Hall marks the 70th anniversary of the US Air Force

The concert, made up of musicians from the RAF past and present, is one leg of a 12-part tour during which they will take their show across the UK, and arrives in Bristol on Monday 16th October 2017. In honour of the US Air Force marking its' 70th anniversary, the concert will include specially selected American-inspired music that has helped to provide a soundtrack to people's lives around the world.

 

From the swing era to Motown, country to rock'n'roll, the RAF's accomplished musicians will demonstrate their virtuosity across a wide range of genres. Memorable military marches and classical pieces will also share the bill with classics like New York, New York and Don't Rain on my Parade performed by vocalists Sarah Francis and Corporal Matt Walker. Making his debut on the tour will be conductor Wing Commander Piers Morrell, the RAF's new Principal Director of Music.
