The Brodsky Quartet plunge classical musical lovers in to the new season in true and typically rapturous style when they perform at St George's in Bristol on Friday 29th September 2017.

Brodsky Quartet live from the Prinsengracht Concert 2017

Renowned for putting on programmes of bold, distinctive and dramatically rich music, this curtain raiser to the new season contains three masterpieces by Shostokovich, Beethoven and Borodin.

Reflecting the loss of his first wife, Shostokovich's 7th String Quartet is a heart-rending, tortured sonic eulogy; Borodin's brighter, more sunnily dispositioned quartet is a stark, invigorating contrast; while Beethoven's String Quartet No.16 - his last complete composition - comprises an enigmatic theme and a tense, burning evocation of inevitability.

The concert starts at 7.30pm for a trio of classical masterworks performed by a consummate ensemble.

Tickets range from £15 to £25 and can be purchased here.

St George's is located at Great George Street, Bristol, BS1 5RR.  Tel. 0845 40 24 001
