The best student lifestyle deals in Bristol right now

The best student lifestyle deals in Bristol right now

Posted on: 22 Sep 2017

As a new student arriving in any city, expect bars, restaurants and other companies to throw offers at you from every angle to draw you in. While, obviously, the more appealing ones come in the form of cheap pints or discounts on burgers, you'll come to realise after a couple weeks that you do actually need to do the basic stuff like find yourself a barber, a gym and some uni supplies. This article should save you an hour or so of walking aimlessly around Broadmead looking for these, as I outline the best student lifestyle deals on offer in Bristol. Just make sure you bring your student card.

Shotgun Barbers

Shotgun Barbers have two salons - one in the city centre and one in Clifton

Everybody has 'their' barber or hairdresser at home that keeps you going back because he or she knows what you want and knows how to do it. It can be hard to find somewhere in a new city when you inevitably need a trim, but Shotgun Barbers have got you covered when it comes to getting a quality cut at a decent price. Able to cut both men and women's hair, Shotgun have two salons - one located on Cotham Hill in Clifton and one on Bond Street in the centre.

Offer: Up to 25% off for students

Cass Art Bristol

Cass Art Bristol is holding its' own student event, packed full of great offers and a few freebies

Art and illustration students should be all over this one. On Wednesday 27th September at Cass Art in Park Street, students are invited to come along to an open day - picture an art-specific, scaled-down version of a freshers fair - where attendees will be able to take advantage of discounts on art supplies as well as a further £30 worth of free stuff when you spend £25. The availability of extra freebies from Pizzarova, Friska Cafe and The White Harte make this one a no-brainer.

Offer: 20% off everything and £30 worth of free items when you spend £25

71 Queens

71 Queens can be found in The Galleries shopping centre

You knew the moment she gave it to you - that Gola jacket your mum bought you from Sports World before you moved out just isn't gonna cut it. If you, like a lot of people, are looking to buy some fresh clothes now your loan's come in, 71 Queens are offering students 20% off any items that aren't already on sale. Stocked brands include Sik Silk, Believe and King Apparel, so you're able to update your wardrobe and still have enough money left over to pay the rent. If you don't want to wait for the delivery to come, you can always head down to the 71 Queens store in The Galleries where the offer also applies.

Offer: 20% off everything online (excluding sale items) with code STUGUIDE and in store

The Gym

Bristol's Gym Group branch can be found in Broadmead

Similar to finding a barber's that suits you, it can be difficult to find a gym that ticks all the boxes in terms of price, location and equipment among other things. The Gym Group, located in Broadmead, couldn't really be more central - a short walk from a number of uni halls including Marketgate and Transom House. The branch is open 24 hours a day so you can fit sessions into your schedule, it offers free city centre parking for members and is now offering a great student price - 8 months for £99 which works out to less than £12.50 a month - taking you right through to the end of your final term in May.

Offer: 8 month gym membership for £99

Bristol Sport

Shared by Bristol City Football Club and Bristol Rugby, Ashton Gate Stadium has recently undergone a major makeover

Whatever sport you're into, chances are Bristol's got you covered with a wealth of teams competing in a number of different sports. Aside from having to choose between City and Rovers if you're a football fan, you can also get down to watch Bristol Rugby, the Bristol Flyers basketball team, Bristol City Women's Football Club and more. While these clubs don't offer student-specific discounts, you can bag yourself a cheaper ticket with the option of under-22, under-21 or under-19 tickets depending on who you're watching. Nothing better than a pie and a pint at the football when you've got nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Offer: Under-22, Under-21 and Under-19 tickets
