Bristol’s Urban Tandoor named Best Indian in the South West

Posted on: 02 Aug 2017

The curry house in central Bristol has picked up another accolade, winning Best Indian in the South West at the Asian Food and Restaurant Awards last night.

Urban Tandoor

In recent years, the laudatory decoration of Urban Tandoor has rivalled that of the most prolific competition athletes; if cooking up quality curries was an Olympic sport, these guys would be the Usain Bolts, the Michael Phelps, the Chris Hoys of their field.

Whilst picking up a triplet of Good Food gold awards for 2015, 2016 and 2017 (as well as coming highly commended at their most recent ceremony), Urban Tandoor was also shortlisted for the British Curry Awards and, most impressively, was named the UK’s best casual dining house at the Asian Curry Awards.

And last night, they added to their trophy cabinet (which will necessarily have to be extended), when they won ‘Best Indian in the South West’ at the Asian Food and Restaurant Awards for 2017.

But don’t just take their word of the critics (or ours) for it, try it for yourself! Superb food is just one aspect of the overall dining experience. Decorated beautifully with seemingly no expense spared, and tended by warm and friendly staff, this is a dining experience to rival top restaurants anywhere.

Centrally-situated on Small Street, their rangy list of accolades is only matched in length by their extensive menu, which collates traditional Indian classics among dishes with a contemporary twist.

Using less oil, no artificial colours and fresh ingredients ensures their cooking is always light and fresh. What sets them apart from many others in the fit-to-burst Indian restaurant sector is the fact they serve genuine Indian food from the true sources. At Urban Tandoor, you will find cuisine from the gourmet homes and street stalls across India’s regions, all prepared by skilled chefs from those regions. It’s as close to the real thing you will find.
