Goldfrapp

Alison Goldfrapp has been performing ever since she began incorporating music into the work for her fine art degree at Middlesex University, where she would meld music, visuals and routines into her installations. It was a friendship with one of Bristol’s finest, however, that shifted her into a more mainstream line of sight, when she lent her vocal to Maxinquaye, the 1995 debut album of Tricky.

As a result, she met composer Will Gregory and the pair combined to make music under the moniker of Alison’s surname. Their debut Felt Mountain arrived in 2000, the first of seven studio albums which have each artfully refined the sound of its predecessor, whilst continually mining a wealth of disco and glam-rock influences.

The latest of these, Silver Eye, dropped in March, and has attracted the levels of critical praise that have become commonplace for the duo. In support of the record, they have just announced a hefty UK tour, which finds its penultimate turnout at Bristol’s O2 Academy on Thursday 9th November.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 9am on Friday 21st July and can be bought here.
