Bristol’s inaugural SPRINGFEST to take place this Saturday

Posted on: 05 Jul 2017

The debut of the family fair is to take place this Saturday (8th July) on Sandy Park Road in Brislington, showcasing the crafts and wares of the local community.

SPRINGFEST

Adding a bit of spring to your step on what is forecast to be a hot and heavy summer’s Saturday is SPRINGFEST, the community fair which will take over Sandy Park Road in Brislington – and no, they haven’t got their seasons muddled.

SPRING is, in fact, a neat acronym for the Sandy Park Road Improvement Neighbourhood Group, a body who work tirelessly with local councillors and the Neighbourhood Partnership Team to enhance and celebrate Sandy Park Road. And SPRINGFEST is all about sharing their love for the street with a wider audience, inviting people from a wider Bristol audience to partake in the extraordinary breadth of talents perpetuated by the residents.

This celebration will take the form of a one-off makers’ fair and food market, with Sandy Park Road and the adjacent Wick Road springing into life to host them. Between 10am and 3pm, local businesses will be on full display as part of a special guided trail along the roads, which count a brand new deli among the number of participating traders.

SPRINGFEST

At the bottom of Sandy Park Road, a culinary market will be hosted by Love Food Festival in the Repton Road car park, with street food vendors and local artisans flogging their produce. Meanwhile, at the top of the street, Made In Bristol will be hosting a makers’ fair in St Cuthbert’s Church, bringing with them all of the creative ingenuity that has rendered their annual Colston Hall gift fairs so revered.

Sam Goss from SPRING said: ‘This event is an amazing opportunity for the residents of Brislington to show off its hidden spaces, magical places and welcoming community to the rest of Bristol. SPRING have been working tirelessly to bring to attention the amenities on our doorstep, and to celebrate the area as it continues to grow.’

SPRINGFEST will take place from 10am-3pm this Saturday, 8th July, at Sandy Park Road and Wick Road in Brislington. For more information about SPRING, visit their website.
