Edinburgh Festival comedy preview at Bristol's Smoke and Mirrors throughout July

Posted on: 03 Jul 2017

Be in the audience as a number of stand-up comics test out their material ahead of the Edinburgh Fringe, as part of the Bunch of Japes comedy nights at Bristol’s Smoke & Mirrors this July.

June is the month in which stand-ups the country over sit down to write their new routines with all eyes on the Edinburgh Festival, during which the streets of the city are given over to all things funny, musical and dramatic for the majority of August. The audiences of the Scottish capital, however, can represent hostile environments in which to launch new jokes, thus a bit of prior preparation is always prescient.

Edinburg Road Trip

To this end, Smoke & Mirrors, the magical bar in the centre of Bristol, are hosting a series of nights, (cleverly entitled Bunch of Japes) at which Edinburgh-bound funnymen and women can trial their gags and sharpen their tongues with a small group of honest spectators in their intimate theatre.

July's performances are:

3rd - Lloyd Griffith & Rhys James

4th - Brennan Reece & Larry Dean

10th - Lloyd Griffith & Rhys James

11th - Adam Hess & Jack Barry

12th - Jake Lambert & George Rigden

17th - Stephanie Laing & Bisha K Ali

18th - Rahul Kohli

24th - Sofie Hagan & Edd Hedges

25th - Jordan Brookes & The Death Hilarious

All of the shows begin at 8pm and cost a discounted price of £3.50 if you book online - you can do so here - though it's still just £5 on the door.
