Sophie Mueller and Florian Pfister have just moved to Bristol from Germany: "After one week in Bristol we decided to give our top tips for people who visit this great city. We have swapped Germany for the West Country and these are our recommendations…"

When you visit Bristol for the first time, we recommend the Banksy walking tour SEE HERE FOR AN INTERACTIVE BANKSY WALKING TOUR MAP AND GUIDE. Even if you aren’t that interested in arts, it is a good way to get a big insight into the city. While walking through Bristol you may discover things that you want to do over the next few days.

During the tour, you’ll see the Cabot Tower in Brandon Hill Park. This is the tallest building in Bristol that you can climb free of charge. The view from the top of the tower is absolutely brilliant. Also, the park around is a really nice spot to relax.

A world famous symbol of Bristol is the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It was designed by Brunel, who is very famous here. This bridge was the venue for the first modern bungee jump and the last Concorde flight. If the sun is shining it is a really lovely green spot with a stunning view.  It’s a must see!

Another venue worth seeing is Millennium Square, where the 'silver ball' is located (At-Bristol Planetarium). Around this plaza, there are a lot of lovely restaurants and bars. Opposite these bars, there is the harbour where you can take a boat trip to see the city from another point of view. While being on the boat you see the famous ss Great Britain which is now a museum, though it does charge an entrance fee in contrast to most of the other museums in Bristol that are free.

Also pretty close to the Millennium Square there is the College Green Park which is in front of the Bristol Cathedral and the City Hall which are both impressive buildings. When it’s time to grab some food you need to go to St Nicolas Market because there is lots of different street food from all over the world. You walk along and can’t decide where to buy something due to the lovely smell of the freshly made meals.
