My Bristol Food - Zoë Hinwood
Posted on: 19 Jun 2017In our My Bristol Food series, we talk with some of the most prominent Bristol foodies around to get their take on what makes the city's culinary scene tick and also get their recommendations. This week we spoke with lifestyle- blogger and founder of The Blonde Blog, Zoë Hinwood...
Firstly, who are you?!
I’m Zoë! I’m a primary school teacher originally from South Wales but I moved to Bristol in 2009 for work – I fell in love with this city and couldn’t bring myself to leave, even returning after taking a year out to travel the world. Since January this year, I’ve also become a lifestyle blogger and started my blog ‘The Blonde Blog’ and Instagram page.
Where are your most-visited food places in Bristol?
My other half and I (The Canadian in my blog) love burgers and seem to be on a mission to find the best one in Bristol! We love them at Hobgoblin (where we had our first date actually!), Atomic Burger, Racks and Byron Burger. We also go out for brunch quite often and tend to head to the classic Primrose Café, Tradewind Espresso and Pinkmans Bakery (oh my goodness their doughnuts!). I also love the pizza at The Stable, mouthwatering gelato at Swoon and the most amazing cakes at Anna Cake Couture.
Where in Bristol has the...
Best burger - Hobgoblin
Best Sunday roast – The Social
Best pub/bar – The Avon Gorge Hotel/The White Lion – for the views!
Best for special occasions – The Ivy (although I haven’t been yet I would go there for an occasional treat!)
Best pizza – The Stable
Best indie producer/shop/market - St Nicholas Market and Whiteladies Road Farmers Market
Best brunch – Primrose Cafe
Best Indian – Raj Pavillions
Best tea and cake – Cox and Baloney
Best coffee – Department of Coffee and Social Affairs
If you were the Mayor of Bristol for a day what would you do?
Free balloon rides over the city for all!
You’ve got 24 hours in Bristol to show some visitors around. What are you going to do?
Take them for a wander through Clifton Village to have a nosey in the cute shops, walk along the suspension bridge. Pop down through Hotwells to look at the rainbow coloured houses and walk along the harbourside to grab some lunch (hopefully at the Saturday morning street food stalls). I’d take them for Swoon Gelato and eat it on College Green (weather permitting) and finish with a trip up Brandon Tower to see the city from on high. Finish the evening with cocktails in one of Bristol’s hidden bars like Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Where else can we find you?
