The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at The Bristol Hippodrome

The stage adaptation of Mark Haddon’s much-loved novel has won accolades hand over foot in the West End – and is now coming to Bristol’s Hippodrome.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time caused a bit of a stir when it was released, in novel form, in 2003. Scooping praise as readily as awards, the book was commended for its frank presentation of its protagonist Christopher’s developmental disorder.

When 15-year-old Christopher discovers Mrs Shears’ dead dog, which has been killed with a pitchfork, he begins a involved and meticulous investigation to unearth the identity of the assailant. The resultant journey to the answer will take him to London and to a number of unforeseen truths…

Given the intricacy of the narrative and the frequent use of internal monologue, translating it to the stage seemed like a big ask – yet in 2013 a new production arrived on the West End, accruing commendation for its ingenuity and charm and seven Oliver Awards.

After a successful five years in London, the production left the capital in May to tour the length of the country – and it will stop over in Bristol for a five-day run at the Hippodrome from the 13th to the 17th June.

Tickets for the show range variously from £19.10 to £41.40, and can be bought here. For more on at the Hippodrome, check them out on Facebook.
