Newton Faulkner Hazy Days

Though the days of T4 On The Beach are (perhaps not too sadly) behind us, the iconic venue of Weston-super-Mare is still just as able as it has always been to host music by the seaside. And the coastal town will be called upon again next month when it welcomes a festival of real quality…

Hazy Days is back for a second year and is bringing with it an improved cohort of musical talent for the bash taking place on the 7th and 8th July. This time, dread-headed acoustic warrior Newton Faulkner will headline the opening concert on the Friday night, heading up a bill which also includes Gaz Brookfield, Ryan Inglis, The Rosa Gray Band and Johnny Edgar.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

And he fun continues apace on Saturday, as fruits of the Big Apple, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, bring their unique sense of NYC swagger to their headline berth. Beforehand, Britpop exponents Reef and Cool Britannia-embodiment Sophie Ellis-Bextor (above) face off on either side of an eclectic line-up. Elsewhere, Sian Evans, Neville Staple Band and Future Dub Orchestra perform.

All of this musical entertainment will unfold within The Tropicana on the Weston sea front, which punters will likely recognise as the site of Banksy’s Dismaland installation – though there will be nothing dismal about Hazy Days.
