Shindig Weekender taking place in Somerset this weekend

The festival, which will be headlined by The Heavy and The Sugarhill Gang, takes place on the upcoming bank holiday weekend (26th-28th May) on Gilcombe Farm in Bruton.

Proving that Glastonbury isn’t the only festival to take place in Somerset is Shindig Weekender, the funk-laden bank holiday party taking place in Bruton at the outset of each summer.

This year’s line-up is denser with talent than ever, topped, suitably, by local favourites The Heavy (above) and, from further afield, The Sugarhill Gang. The symbiotic celebration of hip hop and funk ’n’ soul extends to incorporate such distinguished names as Dub Pistols, Aldo Vanucci, Krafty Kuts, Dynamite MC and Stanton Warriors, who will play on various stages across the weekend.

For those looking for something slightly heavier, New York house legend Todd Terry (below) will head up proceedings at the Stardust Discotheque, ably accompanied by the likes of Greg Wilson, John Da Silva and Justin Harris.

There is plenty of non-musical entertainment on offer away from the main stages, with wellbeing workshops, food stalls and spoken word showcases. There is also a Kids’ Kingdom for the younger festival-goers.
