Everyone knows that politics is thirsty work. None more so than landlord Joby Andrews, who saw that the best way to a young person’s political activation might just be through their liver.

As such, he launched the ‘Vote This Year – Get Free Beer’ campaign in response to the calling of the snap general election on June 8th, promising a free pint to every newly-registered voter.

The premise is simple:

  • bring your confirmation email to a participating pub
  • swap it for a beer (or equivalent)
  • it's that simple

A full list of participating pubs, which includes The Love Inn, Flipside Cocktail Club and The Green Man, can be found here.

Bristol festival Love Saves The Day have also put their name to the cause, as part of the ‘Use Your Power: Vote!’ initiative.

The forthcoming general election is widely-considered to be the most important in a generation, yet 16-25 year olds are still forecast to be much less likely to turn out on June 8th than older voters.

Registration to vote in the June 8th general election closes on May 22nd - you can do so here. For more information about the 'Vote This Year, Get Free Beer' campaign, go here.
