Last year’s star baker Candice Brown will be just one of several leading culinary names cooking up a storm at the Bristol Foodies Festival, which is to take place on the Downs this weekend (12th-14th May).

Bristol Foodies Festival

Starting tomorrow, the Bristol Foodies Festival is to occupy the Durdham Downs, filling the space with the tastiest celebration of culinary excellence in the South West.

Spread between the various showcase spaces, including the Chef’s Theatre, the Restaurant Tents, the Cakes and Desserts Theatre and a Healthy Living Area, is a jam-packed selection of stars from the food world. Heading up the list is GBBO-winner Candice Brown, who will be joined by TV chef Dean Edwards, Masterchef’s Jane Devonshire, Jack Layer and Billy Wright, and Michelin-starred chef Josh Eggleton – all of whom will be giving cooking demonstrations over the weekend.

There will also be a kids’ cookery school, creative workshops, drinks theatre, street food avenue, artisan producers market, live music, restaurant tents and pop-up bars. A VIP experience is also available with a ‘red carpet welcome’, which includes the new deli and gourmet snacks area and complimentary, exclusive Foodies Festival tote bags with VIP goodies inside.

Another highlight comes in the form of  the Cook with Critters: Creative Healthy Living section. The new bug-eating trend in healthy living today has been declared as the new sushi. Stop by to learn about the benefits of chocolate-dipped and candy-coated worms, scorpions, locusts, ants, caterpillars, mealworms and crickets! Vietnamese Street Food Stand will be demonstrating how to cook with critters and the health benefits of doing so.

To take advantage of all of the above, grab yourself a ticket here. These start at £10 with discounts available for concessions. For more information and to see a full schedule of events, head to www.foodiesfestival.com.
