The Brandon Hill Beer Festival is on in Bristol this weekend

Posted on: 10 May 2017

Hosted by the quartet of fine Bristol boozers which sit at the foot of the city’s central grassy knoll, the weekend will feature music, magic and merriment. Oh, and loads and loads of beer.

Let’s hear it for the beer! All hail to the ale!

Tomorrow (Thursday 11th May) sees the start of the annual Brandon Hill Beer Festival, a four-day celebration of the liquid gold hosted by the gregarious gaggle of pubs in central Bristol: The Hope and Anchor, The Bag of Nails, The Three Tuns and The Lime Kiln.

The four boozers, all within five minutes walk of each other, will share a series of tasty beers and ciders between them, set against a backdrop of musical and magical entertainment lasting until Sunday night.

The Three Tuns will have the lion’s share of this, with four consecutive evenings of live music. Thursday sees Colombian calypso band Somos Live open proceedings, with Northern Soul outfit Jamon succeeding them on a Friday night which is set to carry on until 2am. This closing time will be matched the following evening, when The Blues Cowboys will bring their eclectically-sourced swing before acoustic party band Rumdog Billionaire round things off on Sunday.

Magic Malka, one of Bristol’s most gifted illusionists, will also be on hand to beguile patrons at each of the inc pubs.

Beer tokens, which entitle the holder to discounted drinks from any of the indoor or outdoor bars, are available for purchase from each of the included public houses - but cannot be bought during the festival.
