It turns out, actually, that it is quite easy being green – when the colour in question refers to The Green Man. The Kingsdown pub has cooked up a strong reputation for, among other things, offering one of the finest roasts in Bristol.
As well as the titular greens, their platefuls heap piles of potatoes, dollops of veg and slabs of meat, roasted up to a high standard by the Bear Grillz Boys. So high, in fact, that admirers have been consistently professing their praise – you will definitely want to book in to ensure yourself a table on any given Sunday.
Almost as good as the food is their excellent selection of drink – at present, they have 102 bottles of gin on the back-bar and always have six casks of real ale on rotation.
Housed in a Grade II listed building, the pub is a Dawkins Ales venue with all the warm, comforting charm of a country boozer. The homely, welcoming ambience created by the wood panel decor is also enhanced by the quirky additions of cool, kitsch memorabilia dotted around the place including a fine collection of pub lego and stacks of board games for a quieter moment.
