How to spend a cracking Easter weekend in Bristol
Posted on: 12 Apr 2017Easter is upon us once more, which means chocolate, church and, most importantly, a long weekend. As it always tends to, Bristol is brimming with fun-filled activity to ensure that yours is a memorable one - read on to find out how.
Happy Easter from us all at 365Bristol!
Taste Chocolate Festival
Everyone knows that the best bit about Easter is the chocolate; none more so than Taste Chocolate, the folks who each year stage a festival in central Bristol in appreciation of the brown stuff. Bringing together cocoa-fanatics with the producers of amongst the best chocolate in the country, the mouth-watering fiesta has proved a hit over recent years. This year’s festival is taking place over Saturday and Sunday, and incorporates an Easter egg hunt, a chocolate theatre and stalls from some of the country’s finest chocolatiers.
Arnolfini X The Future Tense
Kicking off with a world premiere of ‘Saving Banksy’, the new film about Bristol’s favourite home-grown street art superstar, the Arnolfini X The Future Tense series is a weekend-long succession of events at the gallery which has been organised to coincide with the publish of the Lonely Planet’s new book about graffiti. Renowned artists Blek le Rat and Ben Eine will be in attendance to lead the programme of talks, tours and exclusives.
Bauble Blowing at Bristol Blue Glass
Now, like West Ham fans at Christmas time, you too can be forever blowing baubles. Or for this Easter weekend at least, as Bristol Blue Glass in Brislington are running their bauble-blowing workshops over the weekend (apart from Sunday), where you have the chance to make your own orb-shaped ornaments to take home. The class costs £20, or if you would rather just watch, entry to the workshop is free.
Beese's Trips
This weekend sees the return of Number Seven Boat Trips’ famous Beeses River Tours, during which you can combine an afternoon on the pristine water of the River Avon with a bit of grub in the idyllic gardens of the Beeses Riverside Bar - an ideal way to spend a sunny Saturday in Bristol. The journey is an hour there and back, with boats departing from the Cascade Steps in the city centre at 12pm and 2pm on Saturday. Advance booking is required.
Bristol Rugby vs Wasps
Bristol face the high-flying London Wasps on Sunday, knowing that anything less than a win would all-but condemn them to the Premiership wooden spoon. Let’s hope we don’t get stung! Kick off is at 3pm.
