Saving Banksy film to premiere at Bristol's Arnolfini gallery

Posted on: 05 Apr 2017

The graffiti movie will be screened as part of ARNOLFINI X THE FUTURE TENSE, a weekend-long series of events taking place at the gallery in central Bristol between the 14th-16th April.

Saving Banksy

Despite his work being known and sold all over the world, Banksy’s name remains synonymous with Bristol. His hometown, a street art hotspot in its own right, is therefore an apt location for the screening of a new documentary about the secretive graffiti artist.

Saving Banksy runs with the typically tongue-in-cheek strapline of “It’s not art unless you can sell it for lots of money”, the documentary asks pertinent questions as to the ownership of street art, which has been removed and sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Check out the trailer below.

The film will premiere on the evening Friday 14th April in the auditorium of the Arnolfini (with a live Q&A from director Colin Day), kicking off the ARNOLFINI X THE FUTURE TENSE series which will unfold with a series of tours, discussions and demonstrations taking place over the rest of the weekend. The programme, featuring appearances from renowned artists Blek le Rat and Ben Eine, has been organised to coincide with the launch of the Lonely Planet’s latest gift book, Street Art.

Tickets for the screening of Saving Banksy go onsale at 9am tomorrow on the Arnolfini's website
