Take a journey through house music at The Doghouse, Bristol

Posted on: 28 Mar 2017

The vinyl only night called 'True Definition “Of The House That Jack Built”' will take over the electro-kennel in central Bristol on Saturday night, which is the 1st of next month. This is no April fool…

The Doghouse

“In the beginning there was Jack…and Jack had a groove

And from this groove came the groove of all grooves

And while one day viciously throwing down on his box,

Jack boldly declared “Let there be house”, and house music was born.”

So go the famous words of Chuck Roberts, speaking to the birth of the Chicago house genre, which proffered its first UK number one 30 years ago in the form of Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley’s ‘Jack Your Body’.

On Saturday evening, a night at The Doghouse will look back all the way from the present day to the auspicious beginnings of house music, as Tee Harris, one of the original Kiss FM mastermix DJs, conducts a vinyl only set.

Coupling the ability to book such stellar DJs with a proven acumen for mixing cocktails, The Doghouse in Bristol is the choice destination for fans of music and drink alike. Established as a cocktail bar for the modern world, the folks at The Doghouse are unrestricted by trends and only dictated to by themes of their own making.

Entry is free before 9pm. If you arrive before 11pm, entry will cost £4. If you arrive after 11, entry will cost £6. For more information, check the event page on Facebook.
