Bonobo, Manic Street Preachers and Haçienda Classical are to also perform at shows in the Lloyds Amphitheatre on consecutive nights from the 21st to 24th June, as part of the Bristol Sounds series.

Coinciding with the going forward of the clocks is an announcement which is set to make the promise of longer summer evenings in Bristol that bit more tantalising, as the details of the Bristol Sounds series have been revealed. And it looks like a good’un.

Appearing across the four nights in the Lloyds Amphitheatre, of which the series is comprised, are Bonobo, Manic Street Preachers, Craig David and Hacienda Classical.

Getting things underway on Wednesday 21st June and opening the Amphitheatre for business is Bonobo, the Brighton-born producer of the ambient music which exists in an echelon above it imitations. The release of Migration in January mainlined him into the stratosphere, with this date the latest announcement since the Alexandra Palace show which sold out in minutes.

Manic Street Preachers

On Thursday, Welsh giants Manic Street Preachers (above) will take to the helm, back on the scene after their triumphant tour around the country’s arenas last year. Support for this gig will be ably provided by British Sea Power and Welsh multi-instrumentalist The Anchoress.

Craig David all over your Amphitheatre… The inexplicable second-wind of the resurgent garage giant took everybody by surprise, but was consolidated by the release of 16 last year which impressed for more than just its nostalgic novelty. A man for all-time, catch him on the Friday night - you can chill on Sunday.

Bringing the series to a reluctant close on Saturday 24th June will be the Haçienda Classical, an exciting project conceived by Graeme Park and Mike Pickering - two DJs who frequented the legendary Manchester nightclub. Working closely with Joy Division bassist Peter Hook (who co-owned the Haçienda), they have reimagined a number of classic Haçi anthems as orchestral arrangements that will be played by the Manchester Camerata Orchestra.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 31st March. For more information go to www.bristolsounds.co.uk or check them out on Facebook
