Exultate Singers will bring their own distinctive brand of mighty vocal power to St George's in Bristol on Saturday 1st April 2017 with a very special performance of Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610.

Joining forces with the equally first-class- and rather magnificently named - early music ensemble, His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts, along with soloists from the world-renowned vocal group, I Fagiolini, it will be a marvelous opportunity to hear a truly unique composition which conveys the grand, sumptuous characteristics of the period.

The piece - which skilfully blends the triumphal majesty of the Renaissance with the opulence of the Baroque - will be given a special performance twist as well, with the performers being placed strategically around the beautiful St George's venue to both maximise the superlative acoustics of the venue whilst also emulating the balconies and galleries of St Mark's Venice.

Often regarded as one of the finest compositions of the Baroque choral repertoire, the piece sublimely contrasts and juxtaposes calm, introspective moments with more rousing, grandiose musical heraldry.

A Bristol-based chamber choir comprising 45 singers, Exultate Singers was founded in 2002 by conductor David Ogden and has gone on to perform over 150 concerts, broadcasts on Radios 2,3 and 4, and the classical music lovers' nirvana, Classic FM, as well as limbering up their respective larynxes for performances on The One Show and BBC's Songs of Praise.

As they'll be doing in their recital of Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, they're also renowned for making the best use out of a particular venue's acoustic qualities by maneuvering singers around whichever church or hall they're performing in, which makes for a much more engaging, immersive and surround-sound experience.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets range from £5 to £24  and can be purchased online here. For more information about the performers, visit www.exultatesingers.org and www.hmsc.co.uk and their Twitter feeds @ExultateSingers and @hismajsagbutts
