Stormzy to Play at Bristol's O2 Academy
Posted on: 09 Feb 2017The Thornton Heath grime MC will roll through Bristol on Friday 28th April on a UK tour which comes in support of his rapaciously-awaited debut album Gang Signs and Prayer.
Shut up! No, you heard us correctly - Stormzy, the big man with the beard himself, will be visiting our very own O2 Academy at the end of April. Don’t feel you have to bring your G-A-T along though…
The rapper, born Michael Omari, has affected one of the swiftest ascensions to prominence in grime history: the success of his WickedSkengman series provided a suitable platform from which he could launch the world-beating freestyle ‘Shut Up’ which, among other things, was involved in a Christmas number one race and performed at Anthony Joshua’s ring-walk.
As a result, he has been instrumental in the shipping of his genre across the Atlantic, counting Kanye West and Drake among his growing group of fans.
Now the 23-year-old sits on the cusp of his debut album’s release, with his biggest nationwide tour to date coming in support. As part of this, a date has been chalked in at Bristol’s O2 Academy on the 28th April.
