Bristol Winter Cider Festival on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th January 2017

Raise those flagons and all hail the intoxicating glories of the delicious fermented apple beverage - the Bristol Winter Cider Festival returns to the city at The Passenger Shed at Brunel's Old Station on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th January 2017.

Bristol has a fine heritage and association with many things cultured, historical and revolutionary, but when it comes to the city's ability to quaff a pint or six of splendid rough scrumpy perhaps that is one of its finest and most noble of achievements.

Pray then, fellow Brizzle folk, come join the cider celebrations, make merry and spend the weekend imbibing and indulging in one of the finest drinks known to humanity.

Perfect timing too. After the outrageous excesses and crippling financial strains of the festive season, a few cider libations is the perfect antidote to it all the madness and chaos of all things tinsel and sprout related and a pretty darned good way to usher in the new year.

With a truly awesome cornucopia of over 100 different ciders and perries from such estimable suppliers as Hecks, Lilley's, Westons, Gwynt Y Ddraig, Gwatkin, Sandford Orchards and a whole load more, chances are you'll walk out a little wobblier than when you went in.

You will, of course, require some kind of sustenance and fuel to soak up all those ciders, so thankfully there will be plenty of truly scrumptious hot pork rolls with apple sauce and stuffing as well as a variety of cheese platters to chomp on betwixt your cider session.

Music will be provided by the superb Scrumpy and Western tribute band The Mangledwurzels throughout the day, and there will be prizes for the best themed attire and fancy dress.

Bristol Winter Cider Festival will be held at Brunel's Old Passenger Shed over 3 sessions:

Friday 27th January from 7.30pm-11pm

Saturday 28th January from 11am-4pm

Saturday 30th January from 7.30pm-11pm

Tickets are £7 advance or £8 on the door and can be booked at www.clstickets.co.uk or by calling 01373 466626 (select Option 5).

The event is also offering a brilliant package deal of 2 tickets and 10 scrumps (that'll be drinks tokens then, to the uninitiated) to a session of your choice for £25.

Due to the nature of the event there will, unsurprisingly, be drinks on offer that contain a not-insignificant amount of alcohol percentage which will later invariably result in a certain amount unstable staggering, dreadful singing, inappropriate dancing and bawdy shenanigans, so it's strictly over 18s and you may be asked for ID.

A treat for the city's genuine cider aficionados, find out more by heading to the Facebook Event.

The Passenger Shed at Brunel's Old Station is located at: Clock Tower Yard, Temple Meads, Bristol, BS1 6QH.
