With temperatures recently plummeting to sub-zero levels and the plight of homelessness in Bristol receiving increasing publicity, now - more than ever before - is the time to spare a thought for those living rough on the streets, without accommodation in the bitter cold and in need of a kind gesture and a helping hand.  The superb community initiative Keep Bristol Warm will be doing just that and encouraging everyone else in the city to help the most vulnerable in society with its I Am Not Lost event at the Harbourside in Bristol on 19th February 2017 from 6pm.

All across the UK, other cities experiencing equally bitterly cold temperatures have been adorning its lampposts with hats, scarves and gloves which can be picked up and taken by those in real need of clothing, comfort and warmth.  Rather movingly, one particular scarf carried the message: "I am not lost! If you are stuck out in the cold, please take this to keep warm."

In Bristol, the aim is to tie scarves and such warmth-giving sartorial accessories to lampposts all across the city, from one side of town to another. The point of it all, if your altruistic side really does need something of an encouraging poke, is to show support and solidarity for the homeless people in the city. Just donating items so seemingly everyday and taken-for-granted as a hat or a pair of gloves can make all the difference to the lives of many in Bristol who are living rough on the streets.

Keep Bristol Warm - I Am Not Lost

It's easy to play the casual, quick-talking philanthropist, wear a multi-coloured wristband and espouse hypothetical solutions to the problems that really face this city. I Am Not Lost gives the citizens of Bristol the opportunity to genuinely make a difference to people's lives. Kindness, empathy, understanding and selflessness mean nothing if it's all words and no action but now, on 19th February, you can turn the compassionate, theoretical idea into a physical, possibly life-changing reality.

An initiative designed to raise awareness about homelessness in Bristol as well as providing them with access to warmth, you can find out more about the event and how to get involved at the official Facebook event page. You can also keep up-to-date with the incredible work they do and other initiatives and events in the pipeline at the Keep Bristol Warm Facebook page
