Christmas is coming and that means a week or two of indulgence. It also means that you might need to do something about that in January! Bristol is blessed with a number of great gyms. Here are a select few that will help you start 2017 with a bang...

 

Many of these gyms have special offers or even competitions that will give you the incentive to get serious about getting fir in 2017. Every gym on this list is a welcoming environment for all, that's a hugely important criteria when choosing a gym. We know it can be a daunting experience, that first trip to the gym, but even the most avid gym-goer started somewhere. MyGym, previously Bristol Sports Centre, is located next to Cabot Circus in Central Bristol and is a gym and martial arts school offering regular classes and strength and conditioning with qualified trainers. There are facilities available for Olympic Weightlifting, Strength and Conditioning and a Fitness Gym.
£5 discount on the current Gym and Bristol Barbell Club memberships lasts for the first 3 months. From there it carries on as a rolling month-to-month contract.

Gym – £14.99 pcm for the first 3 months then changes to regular price of £19.99 pcm.

Bristol Barbell Club – £35 pcm for the first 3 months then changes to regular price of £40 pcm.

TrainHers in Bristol is a one-stop-shop for women of all ages and abilities looking to get fit. They specialise in a 30 minute workout that is the perfect way to get active!

Open from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, and 8am til 1pm on weekends, TrainHers is located on Kellaway Avenue and offers the perfect environment for women looking to get a little healthier in a stress-free environment. Whilst traditional gyms welcome women with open arms, it is possible that some find the atmosphere, or even just the act of signing up, intimidating. That's where TrainHers is different.

Not strictly a ‘gym’, but Bloc Climbing Centre in Bristol is the biggest bouldering centre in the city. Climbing is great way of improving strength and conditioning without the need to visit a gym.

The centre has over 1,200 square metres of indoor climbing available and there are up to 8 graded circuits meaning whatever your level, from complete amateur through to seasoned professional there are routes designed specifically to test you. There is also a dedicated 4.5 metre competition climbing wall as well as two large training areas including woody, system board, campus board and a range of fingerboards, plus pull up bars and stretching area.

Regular competitions are hosted all year round for those of a competitive nature as well as a full programme of social events. A range of membership options are available alongside single-entry fees.
