Posted on: 21 Nov 2016Bristol's gastronauts partial to some fire in their food can take solace in the fact The Spicery will be holding a chilli and wine dinner on Wednesday 23 November 2016.
The five courser will see chilli-inspired dishes concocted by development chef Matt, while the wines will be specially selected to compliment the food courtesy of The Guardian's award-winning food and wine scribe, Fiona Beckett, who will be available throughout the evening to introduce and discuss them.
Combining several of The Spicery's most recent dishes alongside a few newly-inspired culinary offerings, chilli will, of course, be the main focus of the food in all its savoury and sweet incarnations.
Fear not though if you're a diner of a more sensitive disposition and constitution - the emphasis will be on chilli incorporated in recipes for flavour-enhancing purposes as opposed to infusing them with so much heat it feels as though your tongue will melt and your head explode.
It's guaranteed to be an evening of discovery, opening up the possibilities of new and intriguing pairings of food and drink.
The menu will be as follows, and each dish will be accompanied by a surprise glass of wine to compliment it:
- Cauliflower 65 and Chilli & Squash Bhajis on arrival
- Ham & Black Eyed Pea Chile Verde, Topped with Fresh Green Chilli
- Fish Tacos with Aji Amarillo Sauce & Lime Pickled Onion
- Mogul Chicken Curry with Kashmiri Chilli Raita
- Pork Vindaloo with Garlic Naan
- Ancho Chilli Chocolate Brownie & Vanilla Ice Cream
The evening - which runs from 7pm to 9pm - costs £40 for all five courses, and there's a special rate designated driver option for £25.
Just a 10-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads (it's the black building with red bars opposite the turquoise footbridge), The Spicery's Chilli and Wine Dinner will open up a whole new world of flavour sensations and exciting, surprising food and drink combinations.
