This alien land is governed by fierce colonial discipline. An argument has been roused as three proposed public hangings are lined up. Is noose the best way to keep the criminals in line or is it a civilised form of entertainment, are the two sides of this argument. Ralph Clarke comes up with an idea of a play. Suddenly we see a transformation not in the mostly illiterate cast but also in the young officer as now a sense of common purpose begins to take hold.

Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good, which is based on a true story, is steeped in suffering yet charged with hope, brings forth the redemptive power of art. The play was first premiered 2 years ago at The Royal Court Theatre and since then has won major awards on both sides of the Atlantic after being transferred to West End and Broadway. The show contains strong language, violence and scenes of adult nature.
