Cat's Eyes to Play at The Lantern on Tuesday

Posted on: 28 Oct 2016

The feline-friendly duo made up of Faris Badwan, front-man of the Horrors, and his soprano girlfriend Rachel Zeffira will swing by the Lantern on Tuesday (1st November) as part of a modest UK tour.

Through their sometime side-project of Cat’s Eyes, lovers Rachel Zeffira and Faris Badwan have crafter two LPs polarised in tone, but alike in their critical reception. Tuesday evening poses the unique opportunity to hear songs from both of these within the beautifully intimate surround of The Lantern.

The pair’s eponymous debut, which arrived in 2011, was full of fabulous gloom, a darkness that seemed to glitter like oil, intelligently subverting the normal twee expectation of male-female duos which had been in place since the ‘60s. The five years subsequent must have been quite alright thank you, as this year’s follow-up Treasure House is an altogether cheerier affair, easily showcasing influences as eclectic as The Ronettes and Beach House at their happiest.

The two play together at The Lantern on Tuesday night, with the date coming mid-way through a pint-sized tour of the country’s cosier venues.
