Viva la Mexicana is known in Bristol for its amazing and authentic Mexican cuisine, but yet they offer so much more to the city. They are supporting Winterbourne International Academy on their ambitious trip to Yucatán. Just another amazing example of how they help everyone in the community.

Viva la Mexicana in Bristol is going above and beyond

Below you can see an excerpt from a letter the guys received on just why this trip is so important and the amazing changes it is having on so many peoples lives.

"After a successful cultural and language visit to Mérida, Mexico in June/July 2015 by 19 students and 2 teachers at the Academy we are hoping to repeat the visit in the summer of 2017.

"The trip is no ordinary one. The 15 and 16 year old students will be living with Mexican families and immersing themselves into Mexican life and culture. The funding for the trip does not come from parents but from the students’ fundraising efforts and hard work. During their time in Mexico the students will visit Mayan ruins, museums and colonial cities giving them a real insight into another culture whilst developing essential language skills.

"Separately, there is a very important socially responsible and charity side to the visit. Since the project began in 2012, the students at the Academy have raised enough money to build a playground and renovate a poor rural primary school in the village of Mocochá near Mérida, Yucatán. During the visit, the English students from the Academy will spend time at the school and teach English. We need to raise enough money to carry out a further project for the school, possibly an outdoor seating area for the children or providing them with some much needed equipment."

Viva la Mexicana in Bristol

If you aren’t impressed with their commitment to great causes like this then you’ll definitely be impressed with their food. Serving up authentic Mexican cuisine centred around the Puebla region, Viva la Mexicana is as close to the real-deal as you’re ever likely to find this side of the Atlantic.

The chefs were trained in authentic Mexican cuisine by Mexican chefs for over 10 years before coming to the UK and so are able to offer an exciting, varied, authentic Mexican menu, with dishes seldom found elsewhere in the UK. As a mark of real quality, they are a member of ‘Sabores Autenticos de Mexico’, an organisation whose membership is open only to restaurants that promote authentic Mexican cuisine.

A large menu is on offer, with great choice and variety, plus there’s 2 for 1 on cocktails before 7pm. The restaurant itself is decorated authentically and the staff are both knowledgeable and friendly.  There’s even the opportunity to take home some Mexican wine, cheese or coffee.
