Fiesta Bombarda: Day of the Dead Carnival at Thekla in Bristol on Friday 28 October 2016

Posted on: 17 Oct 2016

In the run-up to the city's multitudinous spooky shenanigans for Halloween, Thekla in Bristol will be putting on a true Day of the Dead Carnival, authentic Mexican-style, on Friday 28 October 2016.

Día de los Muertos - to give the day its proper Mexican name - is a holiday celebrated in the country during the days of November 1st and 2nd.

The inaugural Halloween Thekla event will see the UK carnival collective, Fiesta Bombarda, take over the city's famous former cargo ship with suitably phantasmagoric decor, funky Mexican rhythms, ghoulish face painting and blood-curdling undead performers.

Already confirmed on the grisly, spooktacular line-up are Owiny Sigoma Sound System and The Busy Twist, along with Bristolian collectives including Hi Life Hi Fi, Mankala, The Inexplicables, Dr Hyde, plus grisly DJs and a whole macabre load more.

This spirited celebration of all things Mexican, deliciously, mildly morbid and marvelous carnival fun kicks off at 7pm and runs all the way through the dark and twisted hours until 2am the following morning.

Tickets are priced at £14.55 (including booking fee) and available HERE.

You can also keep your finger on the barely-beating pulse at the event's official Facebook page. Thekla is located at: The Grove, Bristol BS1 4RB.
